The last week of Term
This week is our last week of term and indeed the last week of the academic year. Many of the children will be leaving to go onto Primary School. Key workers will ensure that each of their key children are prepared for the transition. We will be talking to the children about starting school and encouraging them to talk about any worries they may have. We will provide resources and activities around school, including books, a classroom role play area and trips on the bus or walks to local schools so the children are familiar with the way the school looks.
This week we will be holding parent consultations. Alice has been asking at the door if you would like to book a 20 minute time slot. If you haven’t already booked, and would like to, please speak to Alice or your child’s key worker.
As you are aware our sports day plans had to be adjusted last week. We had planned to hold the activities on the grassed area to the rear of the church and the parents would sit on chairs on the tarmacked carpark. Unfortunately, having so much rain leading up to the event meant that the grass was too wet and would have been dangerous for the children to run on. We could not postpone the event as various other things were planned for the rest of the week and we are holding parent consultations this week, as well as various other meetings with reception teachers about the children transitioning to school. This meant that we were left with two options…Cancel the event completely, meaning the children would miss out on taking part, which would have been a shame as they were all so excited. Or hold the event inside the hall, meaning the children would still be able to take part but that unfortunately meant there just wasn’t enough room to accommodate the parents, as well as have half the hall set up with tables/chairs/resources etc.
All staff were consulted on the matter and the decision was made as team. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused, but we feel that the right decision was made.
Please bring any bags you have managed to fill with clothes back to the Pre-School office by 9am on Monday 17th July 2017. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Monday 24th July 2017 is our last day of term. We will run two sessions (morning & afternoon as usual). The day will be based on a Hawaiian Beach theme.
Each child should of received a personal invitation. If you have any questions please speak to Louise.
If you have any questions, queries or concerns please do not hesitate to ask a member of the team.
