All areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage
There are 7 areas of the EYFS. They are as follows:
- Personal, Social and Emotional
- Communication and Language
- Expressive Art and Design
- Understanding the World
This last term we will concentrate on promoting all 7 areas in children’s play.
Key workers will ensure that each of their key children who are leaving to go to school is prepared for the transition. We will be talking to the children about starting school and encouraging them to talk about any worries they may have. We will provide resources and activities around school, including books, a classroom role play area and trips on the bus or walks to local schools so the children are familiar with the way the school looks.
Our Annual Sports Day will be held on Wednesday 12th July 2017. We will hold one session in the morning and another session in the afternoon. A separate email with information will be sent to you all nearer the time.
On the last week of term (Monday 17th July-Friday 21st July) we will be holding parent consultations. This is a great opportunity for you to book a time slot to have a chat with your child’s key worker about their progress. A separate timetable will follow shortly, where you can put your child’s name next to the time slot you are available. Key workers will also approach you to make an appointment.
Monday 24th July 2017 is our last day of term. We will run two sessions (morning & afternoon as usual). The day will be based on a Hawaiian Beach theme. A separate email with information will be sent to you nearer the time.
A big THANK YOU to parents who have taken an apple or two from the apple tree and donated items to the Pre-School. We are so grateful of your generosity!
We have placed a tree in the corridor with apples on it. On each apple there is an item that we use weekly for the children from food we offer at snack time to cleaning products we use. Please could we ask that if you are able to, that you pick an apple from the tree and purchase the item on the apple along with your own shopping to bring into Pre-School as a donation. Your help and support is greatly appreciated.
As the weather gradually gets warmer, please provide your child with a sun hat. On very sunny days please apply sun cream before bringing your child to Pre-School. Children can bring their own sun cream into Pre-School but please be aware that although staff can supervise the children to administer the cream themselves, they are not permitted to administer the sun cream to the children.
Please could we remind you to make sure you bring spare clothes for your child every session. This can be put in a backpack or bag and hung on your child’s peg. Sometimes children get wet/dirty after playing outside or they may spill water on themselves or have an accident so we would like them to have spare clothes at all times to change into, just in case. Can we also request that if you have borrowed any spare clothes belonging to the Pre-School that you wash and return them as these are often needed for other children.
If your child is absent from pre-school, please can we request that you call as soon as possible that day to inform us of the absence and the reason why. We do monitor absences closely.
Please let us know either in person or by telephone if you have arranged for someone else to collect your child other than yourselves or a familiar person. Ideally we would also like to be introduced to the person beforehand, but understand this may not always be possible. The person will also be asked for your child’s password; if they don’t know the password, we will not release your child to them. If you do not let us know that you have arranged for someone else to collect your child or you have or haven’t given them the password, even if this person is someone that we know, unfortunately we can’t let your child go with them until we have confirmed this with the parent!
If you arrange for another person to collect your child on a regular basis, you can always add this person’s details to your child’s file.
Please could we ask that if you put grapes in your child’s lunch box, please can you chop them into smaller pieces or even in half? We are concerned that some of the children may struggle with the bigger whole grapes and this is a potential choking hazard.
Please could we also request that your child’s lunch contains no peanut or nut products such as peanut butter! We have a child attending who has a severe nut allergy.
If you have any questions, queries or concerns please do not hesitate to ask a member of the team.
